Course Overview

This course equips healthcare professionals with the skills to utilize Doppler ultrasound technology for evaluating the carotid arteries, the major vessels supplying blood to the brain. Carotid Doppler plays a crucial role in diagnosing carotid artery disease (CAD), a significant risk factor for stroke.

  • Principles of Doppler physics and hemodynamics in the carotid arteries
  • Instrumentation and optimization for carotid Doppler examinations
• Carotid Anatomy and Blood Flow
  • Review of carotid artery anatomy and its branches
  • Normal blood flow patterns in the carotid arteries
• Doppler Techniques for Carotid Evaluation
  • B-mode imaging for carotid artery visualization and plaque characterization
  • Spectral Doppler waveform analysis (peak systolic velocity, resistive index)
  • Color Doppler imaging for flow visualization and identification of stenosis
  • Techniques for quantifying carotid artery stenosis (percentage narrowing)
• Clinical Applications of Carotid Doppler
  • Diagnosis of carotid artery stenosis (CAD) and assessment of severity
  • Risk stratification for stroke based on CAD severity
  • Evaluation of carotid artery occlusion
  • Monitoring carotid artery disease progression
  • Post-surgical evaluation of carotid interventions (endarterectomy, stenting)
• Documentation and Reporting
  • Image acquisition protocols for carotid Doppler examinations
  • Interpretation and reporting of Doppler findings for referring physicians

• Practicing Sonographers, Radiologists, or Vascular Medicine specialists.
• Once applied, selection committee would inform you regarding your registration.

• Time: 3 and 5 Days
• Course Fees:
  • 5 Day Course: Rs 38,000 (Rs 50,000)
  • 3 Day Course: Rs 20,000 (Rs 25,000)
