Course Overview

The Peripheral Venous Doppler course equips healthcare professionals with the skills to utilize Doppler ultrasound for evaluating the peripheral venous system. This non-invasive technique plays a crucial role in diagnosing and managing various venous conditions, including:

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)
Venous access evaluation
Venous malformations

Curriculum

Fundamentals of Venous Doppler
- Doppler principles and hemodynamics in venous flow
- Instrumentation and optimization for venous assessment
Peripheral Venous Anatomy
- Deep and superficial venous system structure
- Normal venous valve function
Doppler Techniques for Peripheral Veins
- B-mode imaging for vein identification and assessment
- Color Doppler imaging for flow visualization
- Continuous wave (CW) Doppler for flow velocity measurement
- Spectral analysis of normal and abnormal venous waveforms (e.g., monophasic, biphasic)
Clinical Applications of Peripheral Venous Doppler
- Diagnosis of DVT and evaluation of extent/severity
- Assessment of venous reflux in CVI
- Evaluation of venous access for procedures (e.g., dialysis)
- Pre-procedural mapping for venous ablation techniques
Documentation and Reporting
- Image acquisition protocols for venous system
- Interpretation and reporting of venous Doppler findings
